Thursday, February 25: "A God Experience"
Scripture for the day: Genesis 15:12
New Revised Standard Version: As the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram, and a deep and terrifying darkness descended upon him.
The Message (Version): As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him.
We associate visions with biblical prophets, not with patriarchs in The Bible. Even some of my 4th-6th graders know that prophets, like Ezekiel, had some crazy dreams and visions.
Of course, as I reflected on this section of scripture, I am reminded that not only did Jacob have his dream with the ladder and Joseph had his gift of dreams, but that Abraham had his vision experience with God as well. Strange encounters with the Divine are not really all that uncommon. They are, however, overwhelming, terrifying, and life changing.
Question: Have you ever had an experience where God’s presence and response changed everything?

It has been when circumstances in my life became overwhelming and terrifying that God has shown me through dreams how calmness and peace can be reinstated. And that has been life changing.
I have experienced several blessings from God. John was found when I picked a class schedule at ASU. My sons were found after being kidnapped. And an angel was found when my son needed a kidney.
Keep your eyes open and you will see great wonders all around you.
Blessings!!
I don’t recall of anything happening in my life where God’s presence has changed my life. I know God is always there, but I don’t know if what happens in my life changing or if that is what was supposed to have happened so how am I to know if God’s presence has changed me if I do not know where I was going to begin with?
