Thursday, March 4 – Our help in times of trouble…

LENT 2010    “40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS”
DAILY BLOG   Week 3

Is 55:1-9;  Ps 63:1-8

“O God, you are my God, I seek you,
     my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
     as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”
   Psalm 63:1

Psalm 63 is a leaf taken from the songbook of the Second Temple.  We don’t know who it is who is speaking, but this is the collective voice of the worshiping community.  Here is God the redeemer delivering the oppressed people who are in exile in Babylon.  Here is our help in times of trouble.

How does God help you?  Do you believe God is accessible?

    God helps me in so many ways. WIthout God I dont think I can function every day. At every moment of my daily life I know I always catch myself saying “Oh God, please help me” and as always in His mysterious way, He always delivers. God is absolutely accessible. When we least expect it, His prescense is felt.

    I’m not sure what to answer. I’m not sure how God helps me. I’m sure he does, but I guess its like they say, the good things go unnoticed. Accessible? I think that God is accessible to us like Santa Claus is accessible to children: I believe He is there, but I am never allowed to see him. Whether this is accessible or not is up to interpretation.

    I experience God through people all the time. The great thing about my church family is that all of you are, in your own ways, experiencing and struggling over God issues too, and how to live a faith-filled life. Each of us carries a piece of God within, I believe, and when I focus I can experience that. And that’s a giant piece of how God is accessible to me. Thanks, all, for sharing the God within you!

    it is easier to see God through the help of my friends. When it is just my thinking, I am not sure if it is my thoughts or inspiration. Dean Shepherd told me about another condition called, “Flow” in music, sports, work, etc. that I think are God Moments. I am just learning about them from the internet. Life is so interesting.
