Living the Questions 2.0 (LtQ2)
Chapter 21 – Embracing Mystery
Adult Study Class Sundays 8:30 a.m. – Fireside Room
Focus for June 18: Christian practice is being re-visioned, re-tooled, and reclaimed by those who are living the questions of their faith. They’re attentive to ancient ways, comfortable with ambiguity, and open to the unknowable and indescribable mystery of the Divine.
Remember that you can drop in to any session of the Adult Study class at any time.
LtQ 2.0 CHAP 21. Or get a copy from the office.
Coffee and Chocolate Sunday
This Sunday June 18, the youth will have your favorite flavors of coffee, tea and chocolate for sale, along with olive oil and nuts. Did you know that climate change is impacting small farmers around the globe? Read more about small scale cashew farmers that are supported by Equal Exchange.
We are making a difference in the lives of small farmers around the world with the purchase of each chocolate bar and each package of coffee.
Today, Tuesday, June 13, First Christian Church of Orange’s Christian Action and Outreach team provided lunch and cake at Skyview School’s 8th Grade Promotion. Skyview school serves children and youth that live in hotels or impermanent housing. Dedicated teachers and staff provide a loving environment and promote learning and accomplishment.
Today, each of the six students being promoted articulated dreams of graduating from high school, going to college, and working in a job they love. All the students appreciated the various field trips and outings made possible by donors.
Through the non-profit organization called CREATE, which supports Skyview school exclusively, FCCO provided funds for one of these field trips. Our support of Skyview school makes a real difference in the lives of students who face daily adversity.

Green Chalice Ministry Tips . . .
Reduce food waste. What you do have put in the trash, not in the water system.
Use less food packaging. Bring your own “doggie bag” container.

Family Promise Ministry Returns for the Summer
We have many reasons to celebrate on this upcoming July 4 holiday, and one of them is…FAMILY PROMISE! Starting on the afternoon of July 2 and ending the morning of July 9, we will be hosting up to four families on our First Christian Church of Orange campus.
To fulfill our Promise, we will have the opportunity to be of service to our guest families during the course of their stay with us. There are a variety of different volunteer host roles to choose from, and over 30 spots that we need to make the week a success. If you like personal interaction, you could be an Evening Hosts Overnight Host, or a Breakfast Host. If you like to cook or prepare meals, sign up as part of a Dinner Prep Crew. If behind the scenes is your thing, you can be part of the Set-up or Take-down crew, or even help with doing some laundry.
If you would like to know a little more about what each volunteer role involves, we have made up an FAQ page, which should answer most of your questions. You can find that by clicking FP Jobs_Descriptions.
HOW TO SIGN UP – It is pretty easy to view open shifts and sign up for what you want. We are using the web-based “SignUpGenius” to register and track our volunteer shifts. You can do that right off of Church Life by clicking the link below, which will take you straight to the page: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0a4aa4a72eabfe3-family3
If you are new to this program, fear not! We not only have printed training materials available, but smiling, seasoned veterans ready to offer a tip or two. Please feel free to contact program coordinator Henry DiRocco or call the Church Office with any questions. Thank you in advance for making this outreach program a success!
Master Plan Rollout Follow Up
On Sunday June 4 the Draft Master Plan was presented to the congregation. Many thanks to the 60 folks who stayed to watch the video and begin the conversation about how ministry and improvements to our campus work together to better serve our community. If you were unable to attend, you can join the conversation by watching the video and taking the survey. Copies of the handouts of drawings and plans area available in the church office. If you are part of a group that would like a personal visit from the committee, or if you have questions or comments, please contact Joe Perring.
Are You Media Capable?
We are in need of a couple media techs to run the projector and camera once a month for Sunday morning worship. Basic computer skills using PowerPoint preferred, but not necessary. We are willing to train. Experience what it’s like to sit in the loft and run one of the church’s most important ministries. The large screen projection system and digital camera help bring the service to life each Sunday.
If you are interested, or have any questions, please contact Holly in the church office, or Dean Shepherd, Minister of Music.
