Hey there, Parents…I know you need a breath…
Wanna come hang out over dinner with adults? Childcare at the church. These gatherings are for any parents of babies through high school!
Friday, November 17, 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Are you game? Dinner rotates to different host homes. Another key piece — we need a host house for Friday! (Main course is already covered!)
At the church nursery, child care will be offered from 5:45 – 9:00 p.m. for babies through not-old-enough-to-leave-home-alone (whatever that is for you). There will be some activities for older kids as well. Please ensure your kids have eaten before dropping them off.
RSVP here on this Google sign-up to indicate whether you are coming, how many kiddos you need child care for, and whether you can contribute to the dinner. (Even if you can’t bring a dish, we still want you there.) Enter your information on the appropriate tab if you’re interested in hosting — this Friday or for a future meet-up. Please RSVP on the Google sign-up by Wednesday EOD, so we can make sure to have appropriate child care staffing for the kids!
Nursery care is provided (5:30-10:00 p.m.) as you travel from home to home, first for shared appetizers, then to a scrumptious dinner, and lastly all back together for dessert. The fun begins at 5:30 and lasts to 10 p.m. Cost is $15 per person with your choice of salmon or pork tenderloin. Sign-ups are being taken in the courtyard on Sundays now through November 26. Contact Bonnie Kamp (email@example.com) with any questions or to volunteer to host a portion of this event.

Youth Representative 2018
Leadership Opportunity: First Christian Church of Orange Leadership Board
Now is the time when the leadership positions of the church are getting set for the 2018 year. Katie Thomas is your current Youth Representative to the Leadership Board of the congregation. In June, Katie will graduate! We are looking for another youth to join Katie as an additional Youth Representative through the spring and to continue on for all of 2018! Are you interested in serving the church and building your leadership experience?
As a Youth Representative on the Leadership Board, you are expected to:
- Attend Leadership Board meetings, 2nd Monday evening of each month
- Give a brief spoken update at meetings about what is happening with youth
- Be involved with youth group meetings and activities
- Represent your fellow youth
- Be in high school (or entering high school by fall 2018)
Boards are a reality not only for churches but for pretty much any organization or business. Serving on FCCO’s Leadership Board will give you deeper insight into your church and how organizations work, a stronger voice of influence in the church, and leadership experience.
Interested? Or have questions? Contact me or Katie Thomas!

Green Chalice Ministry Tips . . .
Don’t Pre-Rinse the Dishes
If you can’t live without your dishwasher, then at least cut the pre-rinse. With a decent detergent, your dishes will be just as clean and you can save an average of twenty gallons of water per load.
Don’t Pre-Heat Your Oven
Unless it’s absolutely essential, for example if you’re making bread, you don’t need to pre-heat the oven. You can just set it away when you are ready to start cooking. Bonus tip: When checking the food, look through the door rather than opening it until the final check.

The Hot New Fad Everyone Is Talking About (Spoiler: It’s Singing)
For decades, the First Christian Church of Orange Chancel Choir has provided inspiring music to enrich our worship. We’ve been fortunate to have such wonderful and talented singers all these years.
The Chancel Choir has enjoyed a long period of prosperity, but has recently lost many members. Some have moved, others have taken new jobs, while a few have sadly passed on from this big, blue planet.
During this period of rebuilding, we ask those who are musically inclined to join us on Thursday evenings for rehearsal from 7:30-9:00 pm in the Chapel. Like many other church groups, the Chancel Choir has become a family. Not only do we sing together, but we laugh, share, cry, hug, and support each other as we face the ups and downs of life. Please consider joining the Chancel Choir and becoming part of this inspiring group of people.
Blessings and thanks,
Dean Shepherd, Minister of Music
