Painting the Stars

October 8 – Toward Healing the Rift

Adult Study Class   Sundays 8:30 a.m. – Fireside Room

Painting the Stars is a seven-week study that examines the intersection of faith and science. “Any credible spiritual path, including Christianity, must be in an honest conversation with science if it is to be relevant in the 21st century,” says the author of the series, Bruce Sanguin.  This class, taught by Pastor Dayna, reflects the perspective of progressive Christianity.  Session 1 begins October 8. Weekly course materials will be available in Church Life, emailed each Tuesday. Doubters welcome!  If you need childcare, please contact the church office.

Disciple Women’s Barbecue Update

A beautiful September Sunday was the backdrop for this year’s Disciple Women’s Barbecue.  The colorful tables, placed to take advantage of the shade, were filled with members of our congregation.  Ever

yone enjoyed the delicious food which was donated by the women from the PAL, Long and Koinonia groups.  These groups provide monthly fellowship and study for the women of First Christian Church of Orange.

We are pleased to announce that $800.00 was raised that day and will be used to fund donations to causes which are supported by Disciple Women.  This year’s budget is over $13,000.  Just some of the organizations supported are:

Disciples Mission Fund

Urban Ministries

Family Promise

FCCO Youth

All Peoples

(Complete Budget is available in the Disciples Women Year Book)

Youth Art Gallery

This year, the Pacific Southwest Regional Gathering’s theme is “Faithful in the Tension”.  The youth and young adult leadership throughout the region have gathered together to offer an opportunity to the youth and young adults within our region.  Do you have an artistic ability that you would like to have displayed at the Regional Gathering? We want your art work.  The youth and young adult leadership will be hosting an art gallery called God’s Gallery during the Regional Gathering where we hope to display art from youth and young adults around the region.  Applications are due Oct. 8th.

Prayer Collage Sessions – Season’s Changing…

Tomorrow night October 4

6:00-7:30 p.m., Worship & Wonder Room

Fall is here…or coming! As the weather makes some efforts to transition to cooler temperatures, we can notice the challenge of change in our own lives. Gather in community for space to pray, de-stress, and have fun, with super-accessible collage. You’ll be given some simple suggestions to guide the process, yet you are welcome to create “outside of the lines.” You’ll be given a brief devotional prompt at the beginning which might shape your focus for the evening. Supplies provided. No artsy inclinations needed.
