Meet Our Staff

Rev. Dayna Kinkade

Senior Pastor
E-mail Rev. Dayna Kinkade

Dayna Kinkade began her ministry with FCCO July of 2013.  She is a graduate of Iowa State University and Vanderbilt Divinity School.  She was ordained in 1989 and served several congregations in Iowa before moving to California.  She is currently working on her Doctor of Ministry degree at Phillips Theological Seminary.

Why are you excited to serve in your current position or what do you love about serving in your current position at FCCO…

“I am excited and honored to serve as the Senior Pastor of FCCO because it is an exceptional congregation.  This congregation celebrates being “Open and Affirming” and values the practice of radical hospitality.  Progressive theology guides discussions, decisions, and missions.  Children and youth are valued for their contributions and a high priority is placed on the nurturing of these disciples through camp and a well-developed youth ministry program.  A strong music ministry program enhances worship.  Strong lay leadership supports ministry at the local, regional and general church level.  Stephen Ministers provide an additional layer of support for those who are facing life challenges.  FCCO is well-rounded, energized, committed to outreach, and caring; a place where all are truly welcome!”

Rev. Michelle Harris-Gloyer

Associate Pastor
E-mail Rev. Michelle Harris-Gloyer

Michelle Harris-Gloyer attended FCCO while she was an undergraduate student, and she later returned to serve as one of the pastors in May of 2013.  She is a graduate of Chapman University and Pacific School of Religion.  Michelle has served congregations in Northern California and Kansas City, as well as Regional and General Church ministries with young adults and youth in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  She has also worked in senior care housing, public health, and community organizing.

Why are you excited to serve in your current position or what do you love about serving in your current position at FCCO…

”I love serving God in the context of FCCO because it’s a no-brainer that God’s love is for everyone!  Multiple generations are valued, present, and active.  Singles, couples, families… gay, straight, bi, trans… regardless of race, ability, socioeconomic status… We are an imperfect community seeking to proclaim and live the wholeness of God’s love.  There is openness to doing new things.  I can’t wait to witness how this community will continue to dream and live out God’s dreams!”

Dean Shepherd

Minister of Music and Arts

Dean Shepherd has served as Minister of Music and Arts at FCCO for the past fifteen years.  In addition to a MFA in Choral Conducting, Dean graduated summa cum laude with a B. Mus. degree in Piano Performance.  He has taught choral music, voice, piano, music theory and appreciation at various institutions including UC Irvine, Irvine Valley College and Cal State Fullerton.  In addition, he also freelances as a music director and producing, often working with celebrity artists.  Past church work includes ten years as assistant music director and pianist for the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA.

Why are you excited to serve in your current position or what do you love about serving in your current position at FCCO…

“I love working with the people of FCCO.  They are creative, enthusiastic, and open-minded.  I deeply respect all the individuals who volunteer their time and talents to the various choirs and band, and humbly appreciate their willingness to join me on a multitude of musical adventures as we explore a wide range of musical style and genres… often going way ‘outside the box!’  Our congregation’s warmth and friendliness make FCCO a ‘home’ rather than a job or a once-a-week stop.  Plus, the fact we have so many golf lovers here is definitely a huge plus!”
